1. Who we are
FinKidz Academy is operated by Dr Meiya Gert Nthoesane T/A FinKidz, 193 Yellowfish Lane, Aquavista Mountain Estate, Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa, 1020. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website — meaning we decide how and why your information is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
2. What information we collect
- Account details: parent name, email address and login credentials.
- Child details: first name or nickname and age group, used to place the child at the right level. We never ask for a child's ID number, school, address or family income.
- Learning records: lessons completed, quiz answers and scores, badges earned and session bookings.
- Enrolment and support messages: details you send us through forms, email or WhatsApp.
- Usage and device data: basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the service secure and working well.
Payment card details are collected and processed by Paddle (our Merchant of Record), not by us — we never see or store your card numbers.
3. Why we use it
- to create and manage your account (performance of our contract with you);
- to deliver lessons, track progress and award badges (performance of our contract);
- to keep the service secure and prevent fraud (our legitimate interests);
- to improve the programme and respond to your questions (our legitimate interests);
- to meet legal obligations, for example tax and accounting records (legal obligation).
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers who host and operate the platform (cloud hosting, database and authentication services);
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the programme, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing;
- Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers where needed;
- Authorities where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information to anyone.
5. Children's privacy
Children use the programme under a parent or guardian's account. Children's profiles contain only a first name or nickname and an age group, and lesson content is public while progress records are visible only to the child's own parent and the programme instructor. We never ask children for family income or other sensitive household information.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account and learning records while your account is active. When information is no longer needed — for example after an account is closed — it is deleted or anonymised, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (for example payment and tax records handled with Paddle).
7. Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and other applicable laws, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). To exercise any of these rights, contact us on WhatsApp at +27 79 373 3744 or email mnthoesane@gmail.com — we will respond within one month.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls and row-level security so families can only see their own records.
9. Cookies
We use only essential cookies and storage needed to keep you signed in and make the site work. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser settings, but signing in may stop working if you block essential cookies.
